College research (and many course's greens) have shown that some of the traditional divot repair tool's long teeth can be inserted too deep and moved around too much when repairing a ball-mark. This can cause root damage, causing repaired ball-marks to heal slowly.
This tool is designed with shorter teeth and has an abutment to prevent the teeth from being inserted too deep. The repair method is meant to "cave in" a ball mark from the outside perimeter, towards the center by only "pushing in" diagonally about 3 or 4 times around the ball mark. Ball marks repaired this way heal faster.
Because our tool is inexpensive, some courses have chosen to give the tools away and have seen dramatic improvements in the quality of the ball-mark repairs.
